last minute road trip for kate's birthday had us showing up at my parents door friday night..
totally surprising them.
so fun.
so.good.to.be home.
thinking tonight, and reminded with being here~
of the importance of giving my kids the freedom to GO..
if that's what God has for them someday.
but also, making home the kind of place they don't "want" to leave.
{where there's not a, "i'm outta here the second i'm old enough" kind of attitude.. ya know what i mean?}
a place of rest and unconditional acceptance.
where you feel pulled in and loved on, but also pushed out to learn to lean on the Lord.

so, so much to be grateful for.

And I know what you mean - I think about that a lot. Will my kids want to leave as soon as they can? Or will they enjoy coming back again and again? And those "leaving" days sure seem around the corner. 
* very surprised, but her grandparents were more surprised?
* a long, but happy, trip?
* she got/will be getting sweet 16 presents from everyone?
* she still/always will, occasionally need/always need Mommy to guide her?
