{the jOy’s of ordinary days}
the sky.

pastel m&m’s. they’re back!
walks.
looking through old photos. first time we met. first visit when we were courting.

that dimple. that laugh.

these two. swinging. talking. i like what this symbolizes of their friendship.
emma’s photography.
pigtails.
going down the slide. again. and again. and again. and again.

time with freinds.

ben’s rugby practice.

that face.
on the front porch.
flipflops. just saying that makes me think of a certain group of friends. and smile.
daddy’s home. after a week away.
skatepark in my driveway.
starting early.

i like this one. even with the awk-ward placement of the hand.

the reminders of spring.

the gentle rain falling outside right now.
going to see the opening of this tonight.
and this. we are His joy. sweet thought.
grateful for the gifts this week unwrapped!
happy weekend everyone~

LOVE this post Amber! so much!
going to the Hunger Games tonight?! lucky you! i so can’t wait to see it…i’m crossing my fingers that in a couple weeks we can. you have fun there and let me know how it is?!
love you friend!
happy weekend!
AWWW! The pic of your two oldest on the swings gave me chills. So sweet. This gives me hope that kids don’t ALWAYS fight. Oh and I LAUGHED out loud at the hand placement. Oh my word, still makes me chuckle. Guys… OH, and the big mud splash! That was awesome. Was that Ben? Oh, and I’m so behind the times with hunger games. I hear people going on about it. What’s it about?!
SUCH fun pictures!! Loved the color of your nail polish where you are wearing those flips flops. And Ben in that mud…oh my word!! I have been SO loving this warm weather around here too! It just feels like an extra bonus from God!
one more joy is getting to see your pictures!
i totally laughed out loud at the awk-ward hand!!!!!!
and reese’s polish…too sweet. i can’t wait to paint zoe’s nails, as soon as spring is here!
Fabulous, wonderful, pretty, insightful…I need to get my toes “done” soon! Your shots are gorgeous, so are Emma’s! I hope your weekend is amazing. Let me know what you think of Hunger Games. I’ve heard it’s very oppressive! And the unwrapped gifts this week; I need to look at life like that, especially this weekend when the plans I hoped for don’t/can’t happen.
Really enjoyed the simplicity of ordinariness through the lens of your cam.
Love the Bible with notes in it! Once I got over the “you don’t write in your BIBLE” syndrome;) I realized that I love the reminders since God makes different verses “pop out” at different seasons in our lives!
Love the pictures…they capture the very feeling of spring!
I really need to invest in a better camera! Yours takes such great pics. the pic of ben and Kate is super precious – love to see siblings get along and be great friends!! Hope my kids will be friends instead of constantly bickering
‘One Thousand Gifts’ had an effect on you, huh
love it
Have a fantastic weekend!
Yum, pastel m&ms. Why do they always taste better than the regular colors?
Enjoyed all your photos.
Have a great weekend! =)
wonderful pics ~ wunnerful, wunnerful ~
The mud picture is AMAZING!! And I love the one of the shoes too. All of them are great!
I love seeing the pics kids take. Sort of gives you a window into their world. We went to the midnight premiere of Hunger Games, too. Just the wife and I and our son for his birthday. Best part, he won a door prize of a Hunger Games t shirt.
I recognize those shoes. They’re the shoes of a man who makes his living actually working.
You’re pics are alway so beautiful! (what kind of camera do you have? Not that I think I could do as good as you with ANY camera…)
I loved the one of you 2! LoL the hand placement was funny.
that picture of Ben getting tackled is EPIC. what an awesome capture. so totally a highlight of the game i’m sure
and little miss Reece is sooo big. wow. what a cutie…and i love that she’s so intent on the slide, i went to the park on wednesday with my friend and my ‘niece’ and she was obsessed with the slide too…and she was throw her hands in the air and say ‘YAY’ every time she got to the bottom and headed back up again. it made me laugh. i also appreciated that she was attempting to put nailpolish near her toenails
love the pic of Ben and Kate chilling on the swings just chatting. I wish this had happened a little sooner for my brother and I since it took me moving away and him being at home alone to really make us the closer sibs we are today. I’m glad also that they’ve had such an awesome example of sibling love with you and your brothers as well!
oh Emma, such a beautiful spirit that one has, so much like her mum
and yay for Shayne being home after a week away, i’m sure your heart started beating a little faster when you saw his face…what Joy to have him home again, and continue to grow in your time together!
where did you go to school and what were you part of that Shayne and you met? i love those early pics of you two!! i’d love to hear your story sometime!
Your pictures are always such a pleasure.
And I love the last thought—about us being His joy. Thank you for such a beautiful post.
totally LOVED this… ordinary days are the best! your toes are so pretty in the flipflop picture.
And you and your hubby are so cute together!! your kids are beautiful too.
happy weekend to you!
love ordinary days…. it is those days that keep me going. not the BIG extras that I find myself waiting and waiting on sometimes. if I just stay focused on the “good” things in the ordinary! Happy Week end!
Gorgeousness!
Love all the pictures!
I loved this post – I kinda felt like I was tagging along with you in your week. Your kids are precious, and I really enjoyed the photos! And the “awk-ward” one – my hubby would say, “You’ve got a license!” Have a blessed weekend!!
Such sweet pictures….the “awk-ward” picture…..my hubby would have been worse!!
When you open your mind and heart and start looking, blessings are everywhere! Your post refreshed me! Thank you!
Love these!
@JsSteph7 - yep. that’s ben in the mud!! typical him.. don’t tackle OUTSIDE the mud puddle, let’s tackle and roll right in it!!!
the hunger games.. you’d really have to read the books, or see the movie. to hear the premise it raises eyebrows. reminds me alot of ww2 times and Hitler and ppl wanting to persecute/ torture others for their own “enjoyment.” yeah. heavy stuff. but it makes you think… it’s one of those things i’m not necessarily “recommending” haha! because there has been a lot of controversy around it in christian circles~ so. i’ll just say. watch or read for yourself and make the call.
@Elizabethmarie_1 - i TOTALLY think the pastels taste better.. shayne thinks i’m nuts!!
@babybreathblossoms - hey girl~ i have the canon 40D and the lens i use most is a 50mm 1.4
and seriously. ANYONE can take good pics. with these camera’s nowadays, they really do so much of the work for you.
enjoyed visiting with you through photos…some real great shots along with fun, loving and warm captions…that tsunami mud puddle photo is begging to be entered into a contest!
@lightnindan - love your comment about recognizing those shoes! i read it to shayne. i’m sure you recognize them because you own a pair yourself!
