  • {friday praise}

    let your roots grow down into Him {my response in the storm reveals where my roots are grounded}
    and your lives be built on Him.
    then {when He is the foundation}  your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught
    and you will overflow with thankfulness. {i want that kind of overflow!}  col.2

    God is my salvation {nothing else}
    I will trust and not be afraid.
    for the Lord JEHOVAH {He who causes to become} is my strength
    and my song.  isa.12

    let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story {we all have a story to tell}
    those he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy

    give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love
    for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good thing {He, the bread of life, the well where we never thirst again}

    He brought them out of darkness, from utter darkness
    and broke away their chains {He is our freedom}

    let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love..
    for he breaks down the gates of bronze
    and cuts through bars of iron. {there is nothing in our lives stronger or more powerful than God. nothing} ps. 107

    don’t be anxious about anything, but in EVERY situation
    with prayer and thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
    and {THEN} the peace of God, which transcends human understanding,
    will rule your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. {lack peace-a direct result of not taking my cares to Him} phil. 4

    the Lord is my strength and my shield.
    my heart trusts in Him
    and I AM HELPED. ps.28

    what’s one thing from your week you’re grateful for?
    i’d love to hear.

    “we’d worry less if we praised more…”

    that’s what i’m working on. MORE PRAISE!
    i want as that first verse talks about, a life that overflows with thankfulness.

    can you imagine if that were the kind of reputation we had!
    “man! her life just OVERFLOWS with thankfulness!”

  • my grateful thing from the week would be last night, listening to kate excitedly tell me that 67 of the 170 campers from daycamp at our church trusted Christ!! just watching her face glow like that talking about the things of God. my heart just filled right up!

  • I’m grateful for friends who are there for me and for people like you who remind me of the peace that passes all understanding. :)

  • Hmmm…your post has convicted me. Last night I finally ended up with the stomach flu some of my kids and Jeff had.
    The kids were supposed to go to visit Jeff’s family for the weekend into the beginning of next week….and plans had to change.
    We have been sitting around complaining about the flu! all morning and how it ruined our weekend and our fun busy day we had planned for today.

    Instead we will be thankful and rejoice and find the good in this situation.
    I’m going to “Pollyanna” the rest of our day. (even if it’s from the couch ;)

    Happy Weekend.
    Thanks for the post, it’s what I needed to hear. =)

  • It is very nice to read a very uplifting post about God’s love and praising Him. Yes, more praise and less complaining would give all Christians and churches a better reputation.

  • I’m thankful that nothing about my life and things that loom large are a surprise to God. He’s our provider and has made amazing provision before we had any idea how desperately we would need it right now. I’ve been grateful for that all week long!

  • Lovely post. <3

    I’m thankful for so much…but today I’m especially thankful for my Godly friends, my happy kiddos and my loving Boyscout. ;)

  • I am thankful for summertime!  xoxo

  • love this you shared “we’d worry less if we praised more…” I am thankful for sunshine, fresh picked berries, new days with new beginnings that give me a chance to
    “start over” with the goal of the day to be more loving and patient with the kids. Have a wonderful weekend!

  • Thanksgiving and praise came up in a conversation yesterday reminding us of One Thousand Gifts – choosing to be thankful no matter what.
    Psalm 105: 1-2 “Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!” (NKJV)

    Today I am very thankful my kids are finally coming home after being gone all week – they missed me way more than I thought they would…:) and that makes my heart melt…I am so thankful for the presence of God – such a sweet, sweet, strength found when we spend time with Him, seek Him, trust Him! I am thankful for the heart things He’s been showing me – opening my eyes to see Him more clearly, helping me accept His love, helping me trust Him. This week my mind has been more fearful of the unknown future of this nation, this world…and I began to see that I must not be trusting God completely – that He will take care of us, provide for us, protect us and make a way in impossible situations. Oh, how I need more of Him! So I am thankful He is growing me, showing me more of Himself.
    Hope you have a fabulous weekend friend!

  • I am thankful for the rain we’ve been getting!!  Our local lake is full, and my yard is green, and I am so thankful to the Lord for His showers of blessing on this previously drought-ravaged area!

    There are so many more things I am thankful for, because ”…God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”  He is so good to us!!

  • I want that too. I am very thankful for my family, in spite of problems. All of my kids love the Lord. Still praying for a couple of sons-in-law, and some grandkids.

  • I am thankful for a husband who sends me off to the library for an hour because I am on the brink. If I think reallllly long and reallllly hard, I may be able to think of something else after awhile. :)

  • fresh, dusty flowers picked from the ditch for me

    children who play happily together

    ‘free’ water to water our dry and dying flowers

    fresh sweet corn

  • I’m thankful for STeven-(this week, anyway, haha)

  • such a beautiful post

  • I’m grateful for some really neat things that are happening at work, I’ve been praying to be more bold for Christ to those around me, because I actually care about these people and I need to be caring about their eternities and not just “getting along”. I’m also grateful for a new book I got in the mail by Ravi Zacharias “Why Jesus?”. I’m also grateful for you mentioning the “Radical” in your last blog. I’d never heard of that and did some googling and listened to a message from David Platt at the Passion conference….”wow” or should I say “woe”.

    Lots to be grateful for!

  • @Elizabethmarie_1 - oh, BOO!! so sorry. i was hoping it had passed you. so far it’s still eluding me. though shayne just went to bed saying he wasn’t feeling well. :/ hope it passes quickly and you can still get some fun out of the weekend. if i were closer, i’d bring soup. or maybe just sprite for now, eh? :) hugs.

  • @ANVRSADDAY - so true the name of christ would have a better reputation if christians were less gripey!
    @Suzyquekau - YES! that’s He’s never surprised. me too, me too!!!
    @SpazzyMommy - yes! and i’m happy for you your kiddos are back home with you now. i know that makes your heart extra happy.. have you stepped on any leggos yet?? ;)
    @purpleamethyst76 - oh, yeah! SUMMER. i was just thinking that today.. driving down the road, all the windows of the van down {cause our air is broke} ;) but just how much i love summer and the freedom and fun that comes with it. :) ))
    @Cluesy - i LOVE that idea of NEW BEGINNINGS each day. it gives me HOPE! :)
    @wj3km - ~for the “heart things He’s been showing me,” oh, yes! me too. and smiling bout your kiddos missing you more than you thought they would. i have had those moments too like that where i’m all, “oh.. i guess they like me more than i think at times!” ;) it does warm your mommy’s heart. glad they’ll be home soon. happy weekend to you too my dear~

  • @pettybunch - LOVE those verses. and send a bucket load or two of that rain up here. everything is so dry and brown. the grass even hurts to walk on barefoot, it’s so prickly! :/ we were at the lake yesterday and it’s so low, the kids could walk out for miles and it was till only to their knees!!
    @ata_grandma - having your kids love the Lord is huge.. i think someday when my kids are all grown that is my greatest desire. just to know they’re walking w/ the Lord. as mom’s i just think we never stop worrying over them, right. and when it’s not them.. then it’s in-laws and grandkids. my mom will often tell me, it just never stops. the mommying and praying and wanting ALL of those in your family to be close to the Lord..
    @smilesbymiles -  aw. and tell your husband THANK YOU from me too. cause i’ve missed you! so good to hear from you again friend. xo

  • @lwstutz - love all those things too! the first makes me smile.. those bouquets are the best kind, eh? :)
    @bethro78 - haha. oh, yes. depends on the day, right. or.. the time of month. ;)
    @temptedflirt - thank you!
    @DawneElla - ha! “woe” is right!! ;) and shayne has read that book by ravi. he loves all his stuff… he’s a great preacher/ author. and your heart for your co-workers convicts me. glad to hear God is working there.

  • Praising the Lord for the strength and endurance to do a massive clean on my house in less than 6 hours because a realtor wanted to show the house to a potential client, praising that my children were able to pitch in and help out where they could, praising that my legs didn’t give out as I ran the neighbors self-propel lawnmower over the 1/2 acre of grass in 20 minutes because our riding lawnmower was broke and that I did not pass out as I had thought I would by the burning of my lungs and the leg cramps in my calves…..Alas…no offer, but I know the right one will be in the Lord’s timing…so its off to camping we go!!

  • so thankful for a quiet restful week at home. this mama really need it. and that my sick little girl is feeling better. :)

  • Yes! I want that, too! A life overflowing with thankfulness! I am thankful that my daughter and little grand daughter are feeling better. They both had the flu. I have also been a bit sick, but feel pretty good today. I am just so grateful for His wonderful, constant love! To think that He rejoices over me with singing! Wow! Have a great weekend!

  • I’m grateful for surprises. . . the kind that were least expected and like God just hugged me.

  • like those thoughts. This week during 5day bible clubs which were outside, we had lots of thunderstorms roll through the area and the break in the heat was so nice and even when it did rain God allowed it to not do it very much. This one day we were almost done with club at the park but this huge black cloud was coming closer. I prayed it wouldn’t rain until after we were done. God did exactly that. As soon as everything was put away we were waiting on a mom to come by to pick up her kid. It was amazing literally she drove up, I said hi and then saw the rain pouring across the way. It rained so hard on the way home I couldn’t even see at times! God is amazing!

  • Thanks for this reminder…. More Praise….I needed that, in fact just this morning I was telling myself that I needed to be more grateful and get over this funk I’ve been in! ;)

  • @Missionfieldof5 - that DOES sound like a ton of work in a not so long amount of time! my calves are hurting a bit for you just reading about that push mowing!! sad no offer, but atleast you got to enjoy a super clean house and neat lawn! have fun CAMPING!! :)
    @isylvi - love those quiet times at home. and it’s ALWAYS a blessing when little ones are feeling better.. so tough when they’re sick. no fun for them, or mama. :)
    @DanishDoll - yes! so many w/ the flu right now. ben had it the first of the wk. funny how when the flu goes round it seems to sweep in an epidemic.. people all over the world w/ it. :/ glad you’re doing better. and your girls far away too. i know my mom always says she hates being so far away when she knows we’re sick or could use her. :/
    @resolved2worship - love those too!! and He seems to send them at just the EXACT times we need them most! :)

  • @redladybug18 - those times are awesome! when God so CLEARLY answers prayer right in front of your eyes. i always think of how the Lord calmed the storm w/ the disciples w/ a simple, “peace, be still.” wonder how often he says that for us from heaven! :)
    @chambray7 -  a “funk!” i hear ya. same here.. and why i wrote this post and wanted to get my focus on the GOOD God has done!! :)

  • Beautiful post! This week I’m thankful for pies made from fresh raspberries, getting to sleep in and enjoy my mornings, paying off a school loan =D, and making amazing stir-fry with friends!

  • i’m loving those verses you shared and just soaking them in. :) as i’m sitting here listening to desperately needed rain drops falling, and the sounds that vehicles make driving past on wet roads…i am deeply grateful, says the The Farmer’s wife, for the rain. thankyouJesus. it’s an auditory aid for… what He is doING. love you much.

  • I’m thankful for a baby that is sleeping all through the night! (even if it’s 11pm-5 or 6am) :)

    What if people would know because our life overflows with thankfulness? Wow, great challenge. Sometimes it seems like because there is so much emphasis on being “real” (aka too much dirty laundry) that people don’t like just a happy grateful story anymore! And it makes me sad, because we do have SO MUCH to be grateful for. Thank you for that reminder!

  • @Natalie - okay, you had me at pies and sleeping in.. we are SO friends! ;) stir fry just seals the deal. and paying off a school loan? that’s just downright fantastic!!

  • @down_onthefarm - mm.. much needed rain! yes!! the rain He sends washing down the roads, and the rain He sends washing down our souls. desperate for both here. love you much too.

  • @lifeisadance - yaY!! for some straight hours of sleep. and was thinking of you today and bought a little something something to get in the mail for you and baby hudson~ i’ll say it outloud here, that way it will hold me to getting it in the post box. i’m so awful at procrastinating. ;) and how true that in being “real” we can’t be joyful, almost it seems anymore. so agree. big tight hug, friend.

  • @grace_to_be - well, goodness, what a happy unexpected surprise! i’ll be waiting in breathless anticipation! :) big hug to you too!♥
