  • {these days}

    beach days~

today. i’m packing up the kiddos and my bottle of sunscreen and a very large cooler of coca cola and heading to the BEACH!

sunday night, after hard rain, there was that first hint of fall in the air…

and i guess i’m sorta starting to feel the urgency of the doors of summer closing.
just wanting to squeeze in every little opportunity for sunshine and warmth and lazy togetherness that we can.

so the laundry. it can wait.
that funny smell coming from the bathroom. i’m plugging my nose as i pass.
the dishes. i’m pretty sure they’ll be there when i get back.
the beds. they’ll only be slept in again tonight.
the few inches of dust on the furniture.. well, i can dust when it’s snowing!

some days. you’ve gotta just leave it all and GO!!

housework will always {ALWAYS} be there.
these days. this one. just like this.
    will not.

    beachfun

where’s been YOUR favorite go to happy spot this summer??
a flower garden. morning coffee on the patio. a rocking chair on the front porch. the lake. a river…

whatever you’re up to today~ enJOY.
and make time for a little play.  : )

  • Have a wonderful time at the beach — but watch out for the sun!

  • I’m feeling that urgency to ENJOY summer while it’s still here too! Love the pictures!

We have gone to the pool a lot this summer and I love just grabbing our swim bag and heading out. Gotta do that again this week!

  • have a wonderful time, it seems that summer has flown by so quickly.

  • Happy BEACH day! I’m guessing it’s a lake beach?
Summer memory. Arg. i feel like summer is passing me by!! There haven’t been any camping happening much or beach. Just new baby, which doesn’t really make for the classic summer memory. Memories, yes, but the summer ones, not so much.
I do hope we can hit the beach once with the kids yet, maybe in September.

  • Have a wonderful day!My happy spot this summer would be our back deck that we just completed at the start of the summer. We’ve enjoyed so many meals as a family, and I also spend my quiet time out there

  • sounds delightful! have fun!

  • I’m at my friend Kathy’s house which is a perfect
Happy place to chat and let the kids run wild!!

Have a fun day at the beach! Love the pic of Reese in the bucket!!

  • always the beach, always:) tho I’ve gotten to where anywhere there is water is will do just fine!
    play is awesome.
    Have a good one!

  • Sounds like fun!  Up until the last few weeks, I’ve enjoyed hanging out in the yard with my kids but I just can’t handle the heat these days!  Hope you have a great day!

  • Exactly what I did yesterday!! Spent a few hours at the lake w/ my SIL and friends! Children LOVED it! And you’re right…somehow the work is there when you get home…=)

  • Any thing containing water is my happy spot. :)
Hint of fall? please do share some down here!

  • I get what you mean about feeling like summer is slipping away TOOOOO fast!  I feel the same.  I hope your beach day is wonderful! My favorite spot this summer: Probably my little reading nook in the early morning. With the window open.  And the quiet.

  • Oh you make me want to pack up my girlies and go to the beach! EVEN if I do hate sand, and have to keep the baby from eating it LOL  I think our fun days have been with friends or cousins at a pool this summer. I’m just waiting on these FL bugs to settle down before I spend much more time outside! We have at least 2 -3 months of summer here!

  • the lake, where we go nearly every week.

I’m feeling the need to hang TIGHT to these last few days of vacation….WHERE DID SUMMER GO?????????????????????

School starts in 13 days. Sigh.

  • how FUN! i hope your time is splendid, and even better than you hope for. :)

this summer has seemed to pass me by so quickly i hardly know what happened. in between 3 family weddings and a new baby, it still feels like it MUST be the beginning of june. august, you say?? that simply cannot be true!!

  • Good reminder.  It’s cooler here today… LORD willing there is a hint of fall in the air.  A hint of fall makes me much sore interested in taking off for a play day. in fact, I may just take your advice.

  • Oooh fun! Hope you all had a wonderful time at the beach! Such true words about housework!
I say moms just need to get away from it more often. Thankfully it does not follow just waits :)

My favorite spot this summer has been our back yard patio. Watching the planes fly overhead and hearing the birds tweet away.

  • Our happy spot has been a little deck that my husband built a couple of years ago with scrap wood, it’s tucked in a corner way in the back of our yard and is always shady. It has been a perfect spot for us to get out of the heat, a little oasis in our own back yard! We’ve really appreciated it this year with Hubby’s ability to travel limited…gotta be grateful for those little things! But I remember those beach days with the kids…they were a lot of fun and you’re so right…the housework will wait. As you know I’m an empty nester now and I think I’m just about caught up!

Hope you had a JOY full day at the beach!

  • Adorable photos!!!

My go-to spot has been sitting on the couch with my family watching a Disney movie once a week, mostly since it’s been a stormy summer! Cuddling with popcorn and a blankie and watching my toddler bounce and sing along with the movies have been so much fun for us this summer.

  • You are so right about those early signs of fall.  Love your post!

  • fun fun day!!! we plan to head to our “city beach” here soon… school will be fast approaching, can hardly believe it

  • @slmret - we did! lots of sunscreen and water to drink. :) )

  • @fruitloops115 - yes. it’s a lake beach. i guess it’s the largest fresh water beach in the world. so gorgeous. i honestly feel i’m at the ocean. you can’t see the other side, and the waves! crazy that a lake gets waves like that. also.. so super shallow. we have a pool in this house we rent and ppl always tease me about going to the lake when there’s a pool in our back yard. but – - SHALLOW is the key word! reese can go out and play all day in the water and i don’t worry for a sec about “the deep end!” the pool here kinda makes me a nervous wreck w/ her. she thinks, of course, she can do everything the big kids can. ;)

there’ll be lots of summers ahead for beaches and camping. bringing a baby into the world trumps them all!! he’s pretty spectacular. :)

  • oh good for you to just up & go!!

  • So true! Hubby and I love to poke around in second hand stores. We laugh at some stuff, and just have a good time. Sometimes we even find a treasure. I love being with him.

  • AAAHHH, don’t mention the word FALL! ;) It only reminds me that summer is coming to a close and snow is on the way :( Of course, I know some love the Fall season – feels like just as we start the summer, it’s time for it to come to an end – I’m sure it seems even shorter for you having finished school only a month ago.

I find so much solace in the early morning quiet, sometimes cooler air or late evenings with warm breezes – haven’t had the pleasure of camping this summer yet or hiking much like I would like – that’s ok, I’ve enjoyed just being home with the kidders. My kids have thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in :) I should probably start getting them up for school time now – only one week left till schedule changes :(
Hope you have a very fantastic week -shoot me a message – catch me up on life :)

  • today we are going to the lake and I’m excited. it’s been a good summer… but yes… in the evenings i feel that fall air and i start to panic about my summer ending… and think of all the things i wanted to do yet. a camping trip with just our little family and a day trip to the ocean… i hope we can make both happen!

  • Love your spontaneity (don’t know how to spell it). I often get too caught up in the tasks of life and forget to ENJOY it!!
Yeah, to fun days outside. This summer is definately flying by fast, but it has been so stinking hot here in PA that outside is not too enjoyable. Waiting for some cooler fall breezes!
    Blessings, friend.

  • lovely, lovely…..  i am thinking maybe i should move to Canada close to you and then i could sneak in when you head to the “beach” :) . these kind of days are my favorite. we actually drove 3 hours one sunday, spent the day at a (real ;} ) beach (ha ha) and  came home that night. it was totally worth it in my book. i had full plans to do it again with the girls but alas…. my plans change frequently and i almost get whiplash from it!

  • Our escape has been to the library where we do story time and our summer reading program — then we escape into our stories later through the week It has been a very hot summer here so not so enjoyable outside unless you are swimming and some days it was too hot to do that. I am savoring the last few days of staying up late reading a good book and sleeping in a bit in the mornings. School will change all that.

  • AMEN sister! You won’t regret a day spent with your babies.
Hint of fall……we are forever away from that first hint but I look forward to it! LOVE that season……

  • Yup…..those are some of the perfect days….to sit…..to reflect….to ponder the most amazing gift we have been given…..His grace, our families, our friends, time to enjoy them.

  • happy, go-to place this summer has just been HOME. with little Kate coming on the scene the beginning of July, this summer has barely felt like summer…but still…i’ve loved each moment of it.
so happy you took the kids and that cooler of coke to your beach…hope the day was lovely!
    happy weekend!
